2/19/12 Travel to Guayaquil & Lima

We had an early wake-up call and left our rooms by 7:30. We waited in the Islander lounge until it was time to load.

After arriving in Guayaquil, we hung around our original hotel eating a buffet lunch and reading.

We went back to the Guayaquil Airport for our plane to Lima at 5 PM. We had to wait about 2.5 hours before the flight. Right before boarding, Diane was called to have her checked luggage inspected in a random security check. She had to walk a long way to where the bags and inspectors were, down by where the bags are held prior to boarding. The security staff was rude and laughing all the time he was pulling out everything and then putting it back in. Then the long trek back, going through security again, meeting up with an anxious husband who was worried about why we were gone so long.

At Lima we connected with the Lindblad guides and simply walked to the adjoining hotel to bed, ready to start the next week of our adventure!
