2/23/12 Machu Picchu area and Cusco

It was raining again in the morning and very cloudy - not good weather for sunrise viewing!

After breakfast, we strolled in the gardens of the lodge looking for hummingbirds and signs of orchids.

This bird has a long beak like a hummingbird. Any birders know what it is?

We left the Lodge and went to Aguas Calienetes town having lunch at Cafe Inkaterra.

We then went to the train station to await our vistadome train and travel back to Cusco.

We took a bus from the train to Cusco and stayed at the Hotel Monasterio del Cusco which was a converted monastery with courtyards and unbelievable artwork everywhere!

Unfortunately, Bill had caught something and became very sick, as did four others. He had to stay the night in a clinic receiving antibiotics, fluids and oxygen. He was fine the next morning.
